Click on a question below to find the answer:
How much does it cost? Which areas do you cover? Will you visit my garden first so that I can explain what needs to be done? How often and at what time of day will you visit? What if it rains? What if there's an unexpected heat wave / hosepipe ban? Can you water allotments? Will you water plants in greenhouses? Will I need to supply equipment such as watering cans, hosepipes etc? Besides watering, what other jobs will you do? Can you also feed pets?
Answer: It varies. A large garden with two greenhouses, hanging baskets and planters will obviously be priced differently than a garden which mainly involves lawn watering. As a guide, however, roughly £10 per hour would be a good start point to get an idea of cost. We'll always discuss your exact requirements and agree the price with you in advance.
Answer: We cover York and the surrounding areas. However, we plan to venture further afield this year so ask if you would like to know if we will cover your area soon.
Answer:Yes, if you would like us to we'll come and have a 'walk through' of what needs to be done with you.
Answer: We can come and water as many or as few times as you like. Early morning or evening are the best times of day.
Answer: If it rains while you are away, we can still visit your garden to check if everything is OK and nothing is waterlogged. We may still need to water pots and hanging baskets and greenhouses will still need to be done. In the unlikely event of an unexpected heat wave, we'll give you a call if you are contactable while you are away. If not, we'll use our best judgement to make sure your garden isn't wilting on your return! If a hosepipe ban comes into force, we'll respect that and switch to using watering cans and/or water butts. We'll provide them if needed.
Answer: Yes, we are allotmenteers ourselves.
Answer: Yes, greenhouses, coldframes, pots, planters, hanging baskets, anything with a plant in! We can open greenhouse windows, turn heaters on or off and check temperatures as needed.
Answer: We generally use whatever you would normally use to water your garden. However, we will bring our own cans/hosepipes if required. We assume you have an outside tap, if you don't please let us know how to access the water supply.
Answer: To keep our prices low and to keep it simple, we want to concentrate on watering. Small things are fine though. We could harvest ripe fruit/veg or take eggs in if needed. We could also take tender things in/out of greenhouses as needed. We can also take rubbish/recycling in/out on the correct day if needed or recieve important deliveries. Our visits also ensure post is pushed through the letter box and a security/house check is undertaken. If there are any other little jobs you'd like us to do then please do ask.
Answer: We are happy to feed pets such as rabbits, fish or chickens, just tell us what to do. Please discuss with us if you would like any other pets to be fed and watered.
If you are considering this service, then your garden is obviously important to you and we want to make sure we give it the same attention as you would. If there is anything you are not sure of or not answered here, please ask!
